Aboslutely true diary of a part time indian blog 2

The psychological aspect of this book in regards to preserving culture is interesting. Cultural pressures on young people on the reservations is to not leave the reservation but to stay on the poverty stricken island. You'd think that parents and family members would want their children and family members to go and get a good life and a chance at a better world, however the cultural pressure is to stay a Spokane Indian even if your poor. It's fascinating about how a culture that won't feed your family of put a roof over your head can be such a powerful force in some one's life.

  1. Hmm...this is an interesting post. Do you really think that the "culture" is not putting a roof over their heads? you sort of make it sound like a choice the culture is making. Why DO they want them to stay? I'd love to see you explore that...

  2. I think it's a good the believe in your culture that much. If we never would of came to the Americas I'm sure they would of kept there culture and still would of had a good life.
